What Buyers Should Check on a Rhinestone Sandal Upper Sample

Sample approval should cover more than the overall appearance. For decorative sandal uppers, the stone layout, base material and connection points all affect how the component behaves when it is attached to the sole. A short, consistent inspection helps the factory and buyer work from the same standard.

1. Check the layout against the approved reference

Compare the sample with the drawing or marked reference image. Look at symmetry, spacing and the position of the main motif. Small differences are easier to discuss when they are identified before production. If one measurement is critical, record it clearly rather than relying only on a photograph.

2. Look closely at stone adhesion

Check the edges, curves and narrow strap areas where heat and pressure may be less even. Stones should sit securely without excess adhesive spreading around them. A light hand check can reveal loose pieces, but the agreed test method should match the material and intended use of the finished sandal.

3. Bend the upper where the foot will move

Decorative areas should not make the upper unnecessarily rigid. Gently flex the sample at likely movement points and watch for lifting stones, cracking backing or sharp edges. Tell the supplier which areas must remain flexible and which areas need structure during sampling.

4. Review the back, not only the front

The backing affects comfort, assembly and durability. Check that the reverse is tidy, that reinforcement does not create unwanted bulk, and that attachment ends are long enough for your footwear construction. If the upper will touch the foot directly, discuss edge finishing and the hand feel of the backing.

5. Confirm colour under normal light

Metallic PU, crystal stones and plated components can change appearance under different lighting. Review the sample in neutral daylight as well as indoor light. For repeat orders, keep an approved physical sample or agreed colour reference because screen images alone are not a reliable production standard.

6. Approve the complete specification

Before bulk production, confirm the base material, colour, stone type and size, overall dimensions, attachment points, packing method and approved sample date. If any detail changes after approval, ask for the change to be recorded so the production team is not working from an outdated version.

A simple approval checklist

• Shape and dimensions match the agreed reference
• Stone lines are even and the main motif is centred
• No loose stones, visible glue or sharp edges
• Flexible areas bend without lifting or cracking
• Backing and connection ends suit sandal assembly
• Material, colour and packing details are recorded
